How to enrol in your thesis or final year project

If you do not yet have a thesis project or supervisor arranged for your studies, the selection of a thesis topic can be done in four ways:

1. The school publishes a list of potential thesis topics on its thesis database available at https://student.eait.uq.edu.au/projects/. Students can select a topic from the Chemical Engineering project topic list. Contact the supervisor and gain support from the supervisor to take on the project. Please note that more projects will be added to this database prior to the commencement of the Semester.
2. If you cannot find a project on the thesis database that you are interested in, you can search for a different academic staff member in your area of interest using the UQ Researchers website. UQ Researchers provide a summary of current UQ staff, their research interests, and contact information. If you find a staff member doing research that you are interested in, contact them directly via email for an available topic.
3. A student may propose their own topic for a thesis or research project. The student is required to present their proposed topic to an academic for discussion. The final decision on whether the student may do the project is up to the UQ academic. The School of Chemical Engineering Academic staff can be found on the School website.
4. A thesis can also be undertaken with an industrial partner. Students may propose a topic with an industrial partner provided that a UQ academic is willing to be the University-based supervisor for the project. The student is required to present the proposed industry project to an academic for discussion. The final decision on whether the student may do the project is up to the UQ academic.
