Mathematical models and measurements (data) are both important for managing environmental systems. Integrating information from models and data starts with good communication between the people who build and use models, and the people who collect and process data.
A cross-disciplinary collaboration, led from UQ’s School of Chemical Engineering with funding from the Queensland Water Modelling Network, has built the following animations to highlight common challenges to working across the model-data divide, and how these can be resolved by building good relationships.
The marriage of models and data - Part 1
Colleagues Alex the modeller and Ash the data collector find a novel way to resolve their differences: Model-data marriage counselling!
