The School of Chemical Engineering is pleased to announce we are growing our capacity in teaching and research in biomedical and bioprocess engineering, electrochemical engineering, and energy.
Dr Mark Allenby, an expert in biomedical process systems engineering and modelling joined the School in July, and Associate Professor Joy Wolfram (previously at the Mayo Clinic in the United States and an expert in biotherapeutics and biomanufacturing) has commenced a joint appointment with the School and the Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (AIBN).
Our most recent recruit to the biomedical and bioprocess teams is Professor Simon Cool, an expert in the field of cell therapy biomanufacturing, who joins us from the Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology, Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), Singapore.
Dr Jingwei Hou, an expert in microporous glass materials and composites for efficient separation, catalysis and energy applications was appointed to Senior Lecturer. And finally, Dr Muxina Konarova, is our expert in new generation catalysts and reactor designs for sustainable chemical processes and waste re-utilisation, significantly enhance our capabilities and capacity in rapidly growing sustainable energy, gas conversion (including hydrogen) and waste upcycling industries.
These appointments are in line with our mission to establish critical mass in areas of teaching, learning, research, and engagement, and be leaders in chemical engineering in Australia and globally.
